Up until about a year and a half ago, I was almost the only one shooting. So about 95% of all images are shot by me personally. Right now, however, students are shooting some and second-shooters are shooting side by side with me, so it's more of a mix with the most recent images. We want to go away from me conducting all the shoots personally and instead train our in-house photographers so that they can create images that are practically indistinguishable from my images. They are not all quite there yet, but they are catching up, and they will definitely get there some day. We have faith in them. :)
The second part of your question is a bit more broad than the first. You're basically asking me how I run my business. Difficult to answer in just a few lines, but I can give you some clues:
I think the most difficult part of running a photography business is not necessarily to keep on shooting and finding new inspiration, but to simply keep your blood pressure on a healthy level and maintaining a healthy lifestyle that will not stress you too much. Otherwise you'll get sick of it at some point and you will have time periods of no production at all.
I seem to have succeeded somewhat in this area, as I've never had any dry periods when it comes to production and have basically been able to keep producing images non-stop for 5 years. Pretty much all my competitors have at some point during their career had periods of 6-12 months without any production at all.
I guess it's all about being a Duracell Bunny of a Stock Photographer.... You just keep going. :)
Best Regards Yuri Arcurs
