PNG not being accepted

I have a question to you as to a seasoned stock seller. Why is PNG not accepted by most agencies?

It's actually not because the agencies don't want PNG files, but the format creates problems with the logic on the sites. It is very difficult to manage these files, and presenting nice previews of them can be very challenging. The PNG files are not any worse quality than JPEG files, but programming a site so that I can handle PNGs are just difficult. :)
