Why are there changes in images after uploading?

Hi Yuri,

I notice on each site I submit my images to, that there is a shift in the colour or contrast from one agency to the next when displayed online.

For instance, one stock site displays my images spot on - colour, contrast and such are as they should be. Where another stock site seems to suck red from my images so they display a little green and FT seems to flatten the contrast as well as reducing the over all saturation. Now, some might say who cares, the image and composition is the same so the image will sell if it has all the right content of a salable image and I agree.

I'm a bit of a nut when it comes to perfecting these little faults as they shouldn't happen in my mind and I do think a buyer might be put off and they wouldn't even know why. With that said I look at the content of other contributors images and find people like you and I can see that from one agent to the next that your images are pretty much identical. So it brings me to the conclusion that you must either know why this shift happens or you apply little tweets according to each agent or I'm going mad and you have never seen any shift of your images with any of your agents.

If you can shed some light on the matter for me then I would be forever indebted to you.

Kind regards and best of luck with your stock.

Dean

Hi Dean. Thanks for an excellent question!
The reason you're having this problem is most likely because you are using RGB color profiles and are not converting to sRGB before uploading your images to the different agencies. The sRGB color profile is the preferred color profile to use for everything that will go online.
All JPEG images on this site have sRGB color profiles, but we may have some TIFF files that will be RGB. This depends on who developed them from RAW files into TIFF files, and each retoucher has his or her own preferences.

But converting the color profile should solve your problem. If not, let me know. :)

Best Regards Yuri Arcurs
